Futureology Studios: New QVWC tenants

Tell us about Futureology Studios & the services you provide?

Futureology is a women majority owned award winning interdisciplinary creative lab and studio. Our mission is to evolve the human story through inclusive technology. In addition to our exhibitions and research projects, our extended team of technologists, scientists, artists, and developers (futurologists) provide education, training and new tools for all organisations and people seeking to “future proof” themselves by helping them develop new skills and frameworks for the 21st century. Ethical practices, diversity and balance are baked into all our experience design.

Our studio facilities at the QVWC are also available for hire for green screen production, online and virtual production, and filmed podcast productions, with special rates and in-kind opportunities for QVWC members.

How has the pandemic affected your organisation & how you will operate into the future?

Like most businesses, we’ve pivoted to an online and virtual mode of operation, and developed COVID safe production practices for the operation of our studio. The studio facilities will be open for hire when the QVWC building is open to the public and the restrictions lift in Victoria, hopefully at the end of the month.

What do you see as the biggest issues currently facing women, non-binary and gender diverse people of Victoria?

The biggest issue facing women, non-binary and gender diverse people of Victoria are the impacts of the pandemic on their lives, particularly in relation to employment and work lost through the lockdown. In addition to more direct government support especially around mental health, helping build back the confidence of women, non-binary and gender diverse people, through things like skills training is critical, especially as companies have pivoted to online operations.

How can women specifically benefit from engaging with Futureology Studios?

We will be offering a range of services which women and residents at QVWC can participate. These include studio hire, educational workshops around technical and creative skills for producing podcasts, online and virtual production, and online business development. We’re looking forward to being part of the QWVC community and working together as we reimagine, and rebuild to become a better place for women, non-binary and gender diverse people of Victoria.
